Alert: ACCESS Act of 2025 Is Direct Threat to VA Survival
The Veterans’ ACCESS Act has an explosive section that, if not removed from the bill, will imperil the Veteran Health Administration (VHA) system and the millions of veterans who rely on it.Section 302’s provisions will turbocharge the outsourcing of care and drain VHA coffers, resulting in more reductions of VHA staff, curtailment of in-house programs, and closures of inpatient units, emergency rooms, and entire hospitals. This dismantling will shatter the VHA’s carefully constructed model of integrated healthcare, cutting-edge research and essential medical training—converting a world-class system into little more than a scattered network of VHA outpatient clinics and primarily focused on processing payments to private providers. That would fulfill one of Project 2025’s top visions for the agency. Download the VHPI Alert (PDF) and share it widely.
