Washington Scene: The Privatization Playbook: Two Decades of Denial

The Veterans Healthcare Policy Institute has recently released its report, The Privatization Playbook: Two Decades of Denial, written by senior policy analyst/APA Fellow Russell Lemle and Suzanne Gordon.  This far-reaching investigation documents the ongoing campaign to dismantle the nation’s only public-funded, fully integrated national healthcare system and redirect Veterans’ care, and the public money that pays for it, to the private healthcare industry.  The report arrives as the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is in the process of awarding ten-year contracts worth up to a combined $1 trillion to giant healthcare insurers.
